I chose to do my report on how golf has evolved over the nineteen fifties to present day. I chose this topic because I like golf and thought I could learn a few things about golf history. In this paper I will talk about how golf equipment, the golfer, golf courses, and golfing general has changed. Golf equipment has changed a lot from the fifties. The driver was wooden headed until the late eighties. Now they are titanium and some have movable weights in them. The shaft has come just as long as the head they were hickory then steel came out in the mid fifties. Now there is graphite. The ball has changed tremendously over the years. In the fifties there were two-piece balls, the cover and the core. Then wound ball technology came out, that was the �hot thing� in the nineties. Now there is three, and four piece balls. As a result of all of these the ball is easier to hit long and straight. The golfer has changed as well. In the early fifties Ben Hogan was the most accomplished golfer.
