America was a booming country during the post WWI period. The world was enlightened to the power America held and the American economy soon became a game of chance. With overproduction engulfing industries, growing poverty and lack of international trade the economy reached its peak and started to fall. The result of this rapid downfall was the Wall Street Crash. This consequently led to the Great Depression which had a huge affect on American society. Their confidence was shattered and farmers soon found themselves out of their homes, businesses and off their land. Employers began to lay off workers, cut wages and cut production to save money but that added to the problems of the Depression. America seemed to be in the worst state of her prestigious life. The agricultural sector of America suffered very severe consequences during the Great Depression. In The Grapes of Wrath a bias view is conveyed towards the farmers who lost their land because of the depression.
