Amanda Herout Composition 101 Zephier May 3, 2005 Columbus After I left my hometown, Columbus, Nebraska, I never thought things would change. I have only been in Lincoln for a little over two years but every time I go home for a visit, I see something new that does not sit right with me. I remember seeing familiar places and people I would recognize. Now it is like I�m driving through a town I never knew existed. I guess I never expected the town to grow so quickly without me. There have been a lot of changes in Columbus that make my stomach turn. I used to think of Columbus as a clean, care-free, small town. I grew up with people of all ages who were down to earth and really cared about their town. Now, it looks like a town that is slowly disappearing. There are without a doubt, more people in Columbus, but there is a new attitude. Maybe it�s the economy, or our city council that simply needs to wake up. Very rarely will I drive through Columbus and feel all the warm feelings I used to have long ago. I remember stepping off the front porch of my house and all I could see......
