July 8th, 2005 is a day I will never forget. It all started a few weeks earlier when I had a brief conversation with a gentleman at the local pub. He was an entrancing young man with a quiet charm unlike most. Other than a little small talk and an introduction by a mutual acquaintance, the encounter was not in any way too unusual. As the days followed, the memory quickly faded. But for some reason, everything I did or saw reminded me again of the young man, except for my family. They had come to visit but were quickly wearing out there welcome. After a long day of work, I decided to stop in at the same local pub where I had been only weeks ago. I would stop for a quick enlightening adult beverage before returning home to the chaos of, what used to be, my quiet sanctuary.
