ERVING GOFFMAN The purpose of this study is to show how the contributions of Erving Goffman's analyses of human interactions and his concept of "masculine" and "feminine" behavior shaped the critical perspective toward the building of the social theory as we know it today. I picked Goffman because of his great works in the fields of social science, and the fact that he is one of the leading sociologists known for his great analyses of human interactions. As a person studying in the field of social sciences I have come across his works many of times and found them to be interesting, and very useful as great source of knowledge and facts about Self in Everyday Life, the Sociology of interaction of people, and his concept of "masculine" and "feminine" behavior and how it shapes the concept of self that I read last year. Goffman has contributed to such periodicals as the Psychiatry, and the American Journal of Sociology.
