Think of violence in music today. What came to your mind first? For most people its rap, but if you really listen to what some rock groups sing about, you would be appalled. They scream of killing, suicide, and harming other people. Rap music is always taking the shots when it comes to influencing the youth in negative things today. While most of the assumptions may be true, you have to take a look at other styles as well. Most people who say that rap is the only style of music that promotes violence didn�t like rap to begin with. This is unfair and a misjudgment. Rap started from the �soul� style, then transforming to poppy lyrics, to gangsta rap, and now what we have today, catchy beats and explicit lyrics. Human beings need to have something to blame. Its is our nature as being imperfect, that we have to point the finger at something so we can feel good about ourselves, thinking we are accomplishing a great feat. As long as we have freedom of speech, there will always be explicit lyrics in all types of music. So can we really point the finger at rap alone? You, be the judge. ......
