Yet, there are ethics and then there are workplace ethics, or is there a difference? Most people don�t realize that there is no distinction between ethics in their personal lives and ethics in the workplace; they should be viewed as the same. Unfortunately, the lack of ethics in the workplace seems to be a prominent problem. HRfocus (2006, � 2) reported in their January issue, �More than three-quarters (78%) of U.S. workers say their employers provide clear standards for ethical behavior � yet 31% report having seen co-workers engage in unethical conduct.� Within this paper we will examine two cases of ethics in the workplace that illustrate how possessing good ethics can have a positive effect in the workplace, and how the inverse can have a negative impact.
