Most post modern art of this century would of been hardly recognisable as art in the modern period. In 1913 Charles Peguy, a French artist said 'The world has changed less since the time of Jesus Christ than it has in the last thirty years.' This statement we can refer directly back to the timeline of art. But what has made such a significant impact to change art, and how we look at it recently? In particular there are a handful of innovative 20th Cnetury artists who have pushed the boundaries of what is considered art and expanded creative horizons.
Although many artists have initiated their own art form and ideas, many events throughout history have contributed to their thinking and art making. Likely one of the most significant events in the modern art period would be world war 1. The impact of the war created the movement of 'Dadaism', a group that believed in the power of art to 'save mankind' from political abominations as they were 'repekked by the slaughterhouses of war'. Dada wasntin Europe, which began in 1916, producing an elementary, collective and anonymous art.
