Lord of The Flies: The symbol of the Pig Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The pig is violence In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the symbol of the beast is prominent in all the characters. The relationship of the beast to the children represents the coming of violence and the fates of these children. The pig represents the three main characters the best Ralph, Jack, and Piggy. The pig also represents the leap from civilization and from boys into what they really want and what they really need. Ralph is the leader and the champion of the civilization on the island. Ralph also has his ways of violence and chaos. “‘Him with the shell’… ‘Ralph! Ralph!’… ‘let him be chief with the trumpet-thing’” (Golding 22). This shows that not only is Ralph cunning to the children he obviously represents a leader to them by having the conch. “You a beast and a swine and a bloody, bloody thief!” This quote represents how much of a violent kid Ralph can be when he is provoked to a certain point. This anger leads him into a downward spiral to where his real self comes back and says your not who you used to be and you really have a purpose not just being is......
