Study of a Country: Iceland Iceland is a cold place of the world located in Northern Europe, an island between the Greenland Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, northwest of the UK and neighbours to its giant cousin Greenland. Most of the country is made up of mostly plateau interspersed with mountain peaks and icefields. The religion Iceland is 95% Evangelical Lutheran, 3% other Protestant denominations, 1% Roman Catholic & some followers of Asatru, an ancient Norse religion. The followers of Asatru were following this religion because of the Norse invasion in Scandinavia which Iceland is north of. Evangelical Lutheran, which is also followed in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, has almost exactly the same values as the Christian Beliefs. The languages of Iceland are Icelandic which belongs to the Germanic language family that includes German, Dutch and all the Nordic languages. The people of Iceland dress to suit the climate which is icy and cold therefore wearing snow-jackets, beanies, gloves, woollen socks and scarfs to keep them warm.
