My mother’s friend had a daughter nicknamed Rollie who was the monster of my childhood. My mom believed that her friend’s daughter was a good kid. I knew her to be a bully and believed that she would have killed me. I constantly lied and stole from my mother following Rollie's orders, to survive. One event stands out in my mind but little did I know it was the true beginning of mistrust for my mother’s not to trust a word I said.
Rollie had me ask for ice-cream money for her and I, my Mom said “No” and that’s when the trouble started. I was three years old and Rollie was eight years old and she ordered me to sneak and steal the money. Not having ideas of outcomes at three years old, I did steal the money; Rollie and I then walked across the street to the store where she bought the ice-cream.
Little did I know mom had been watching every moment and when we crossed the street eating our spoils; she ran out of the house, grabbed both ice-creams and destroyed them. I cried for hours because I was so upset, I couldn’t tell my mom what Rollie would have done to me i......
