Leonardo Da Vinci once said, �Our life is made by the death of others.� This has been conveyed on many types of literature but especially in poems. I have been given two poems to compare and contrast which are based on the subject of death. One is �Out, Out� by Robert Frost and the other poem has been called many names but the most widely used is �Funeral Blues� by Wystan Hugh Auden which was made famous by the smash-hit box office film �Four Weddings and a Funeral�. I will compare and contrast both these influential and famous poems in the following paragraphs. To get a greater understanding of the poem we need to understand the poet. Robert Frost was Americas most celebrated poet with four Pulitzer Prizes. He is known for poems on a searching and often dark meditation on a universal theme. Robert Frost lived and taught on Vermont where is poem �Out, Out� is set and is based on the death of Frosts neighbours son dying on his neighbours farm. W.H.
