Smoking Bans Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Over the past few decades American society has been struggling with the issue of smoking in public. One of the resolutions for this problem, the smoking ban, has been applied in places like Delaware, California and New York City. Now, mayor John Street and Philadelphia City Council are seriously considering imposing a smoking ban that will concern all of the city’s bars, clubs and restaurants. That proposal would benefit not only owners and managers of these businesses but also smokers and the customers that do not consume tobacco .
One of the groups of people living in Philadelphia that would profit from passing this law would include proprietors and supervisors of commerce, such as pubs and bistros. Although the prohibition of smoking in those places would cause smokers to, most likely, leave-the industry would not suffer for too long. For instance, when Delaware enforced that ban, most of restaurants and bars lost their customers and started to decrease regarding their salaries.
