THE EFFECT OF LIGHT INTENSITY ON PHOTOSYNTHESIS Introduction- Photosynthesis captures the energy from the sun and synthesizes glucose, the major food source for all living organisms on earth. The process occurs in plants, algae, and some bacteria. In plants, chlorophyll, in the chloroplasts of leaf cells helps in the formation of glucose. The chemical reaction for this process is light energy+6CO2+6H2O ?� C6O12H6 + 6O2. It was hypothesized that the test tube 10 cm away from the light would complete photosynthesis first and the test tube 70 cm would complete photosynthesis last. The purpose of the experiment was to analyze the effect of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis. Procedure- See attached sheets.
