Homeland Security, Secure? After the 9/11 attack, America has raised its terror alert to another level. The Bush administration has tried to improve the intelligence and homeland security. At first Bush appointed Tom Ridge as the head of a new office Homeland Security; but the new office was filled with issues, as Ridge found out that many agencies, local government and organizations are not truly prepare to fight terrorisms, they were unable to fulfill their original duty to begin with, that was before trying to defend themselves from terrorists. So in November 2002 it was replaced by the Department of Homeland Security, a consolidation of 22 security agencies. The Department's Mission "is to (A) prevent terrorist attacks within the United States; (B) reduce the vulnerability of the United States to terrorism; and (C) minimize the damage, and assist in the recovery, from terrorist attacks that do occur within the United States" (From H.R. 5005-8 the Homeland Security Act of 2002).
