The aim of this essay is to review a film that takes therapy as its theme and discuss the images it portrays of therapist and therapy. Before I attempt to do this I will start by talking about the film. This will help readers to understand how the therapist and therapy is perceived. As part of this essay I will also describe the therapist relationship with their client and the techniques that the therapist uses. Antwone Fisher is a film based on a true story about a troubled young man within the navy, who is ordered to see Dr Davenport (psychiatrist) about his violent temper. Although the main focus of the film is on Antwone Fisher�s life, viewers are also able to see how Dr Davenport helps Antwone to confront his problems of childhood abuse and abandonment. The film starts of with Antwone Fisher having a dream of him being a child in fields of the country side. A man leads him to a barn, where African- American ancestors, representing every generation from slavery to present day, stand to welcome him.
