The content of fiction literature operates based on the imagination and not on fact. Although every piece of fictional literature is incomparable with another they all have the same tools in developing the story. The tools for developing a story is by creating characters that grasp the reader’s attention, so they can feel the journey to the ending of the story come alive. Throughout the story the characters can be identified as either “dynamic” or “static” characters depending on their position in the story. A static character in literary terminology is one that does not undergo important change in the course of the story, remaining essentially the same from the beginning to the end, and as for dynamic character is one that does undergo an important change in the course of the story. In the short stories, “The Chrysanthemums” by John Steinbeck, “The Lottery,” by Shirley Jackson, and “The Rocking-Horse Winner,” by David Herbert Lawrence, the authors establish characters that are either dynamic or static which implies the motivation of reader’s anticipation to conclude the character’......
