Siddharta Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

9 Siddhartha was the son of a Brahmin, well respected throughout the community. He was intelligent and handsome, well learned in the Hindu religion. His parents were proud of him, he was going to be a prince among Brahmin. Govinda, Siddhartha’s friend, loved him more than anybody else. He would stick by Siddhartha wherever he went in life. Yet Siddhartha was not happy. He realized the love of others would not always make him happy. So he and Govinda became Samanas. They lived in the woods with the Samanas for three years and still Siddhartha could not find peace. Then, word of the Buddha reached the young Samanas and they went to the town of Savathi to hear his teachings. Siddhartha could see that this was a man who was truly at peace. Govinda was so moved that he left Siddhartha and joined the Buddha’s followers. Siddhartha believed that reaching nirvana could not be taught, so he left on his own path. As he was walking along he came to the entrance of a large town. There he saw the beautiful courtesan, Kamala. He was determined to learn the art of love from her; but first he must......
