There are many social problems that are around us every day of our lives. The abuse of illegal drugs is one of many social problems we face. Marijuana, psycadelics, GHB (Gamma Hydroxy Buterate), narcotics (opiates), and cocaine are among the most frequently used illegal drugs. These drugs have many different effects on the mind and society. Some of these drugs have effects worse than others but the continuous buying, selling, and abusing of illegal drugs is definitely a social problem. People all over the world have been abusing drugs for centuries. In 1975 a poll was taken and on average around 2 percent of high school seniors have had used cocaine in the last 30 days and approximately 27 percent of high school seniors reported that they had used marijuana in the last 30 days. While cocaine use went up in the 80�s, marijuana use slowed. During the 1990�s cocaine use amongst high school seniors leveled off and by 1999 the percent of seniors who had used marijuana in the past 30 days was back up to around 24 percent.
