People in the world today can think two contradicting thoughts and believe in both of them without even realizing it. Without their knowledge, they are practicing doublethink. Doublethink is something that arose in George Orwell�s 1984 where the dominating power known as the Party figured the way they could control people was to establish doublethink. Doublethink that was acknowledged in 1984 exists in America today where war and politics are most concerned. The war happening right now between America and Iraq has people who support it, yet speak completely against it. They will protest, whine, and complain about the war, yet they still provide money through taxes. Nobody truly takes a stand against the war with extreme terms, so they are actually supporting the war without really realizing it. Other people are completely against the purpose, yet simply support the troops because they�re American.
