A Midsummer Nights Dream The play �A Midsummer Nights Dream,� is based around humor. The focus of this essay is to describe how Shakespeare uses humor in this play. One way that Shakespeare uses humor in his play is by using plain humor. One way he does this is by creating a character like Bottom. Bottom is not intelligent at all, but he tries to be. Bottom messes up grammar, spelling, and pretty much everything that Shakespeare thought of. For instance when Bottom says �Thisbe, the flowers of odious savors sweet.� Bottom was supposed to say �odours� instead of saying �odious� in the sentence. Odours means �fragrant smells,� while odious means repulsive. This was a simple mistake, but totally changes the meaning of the sentence. This humor is obvious to someone watching but while reading it you may have missed it. Another time Shakespeare used humor was with Puck. Puck is a hyperactive child that gets himself into a lot of mischief. Puck does not take life seriously, he only does what he thinks is fun. This type of character is totally different from everyone......
