As I have concluded from Georgina Kleege�s story In Oedipus� Shadow about literary portrayals of blindness. Blindness is not a life-ending tragedy, but a way to experience other senses most people have, but have not had to put into use until it happens to them or someone close to them. Kleege will be surprised when the blind will bring enlightenment to the sighted world. At that it would be a step forward to bring the sighted world to the senses of the blind people and lower the superiority so believed of the sighted world over the blind people. She is some what alarmed of that and senses triumph when Awrence�s blindman takes the hand of the annoying sighted man, when Coetzee�s blind Barbarian rejects sightist labels, when the citizens of Well�s country of the blind dismiss sight as a troublesome mental irritant. The author also enjoys when the blind characters get uppity, she reveals that moments like these they begin to chip away at the lingering remnants of the Oedipal image. Most of the short stories visualize the blind people as of someone who doesn�t live much of a life or......
