Citizen Kane Analysis Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Citizen Kane begins with an overlook of a castle upon a hill, which projects an eerie feeling as the camera angles over a “No Trespassing” sign. The camera goes into a lit window and we see a snowy cabin, but as the camera goes backwards the scene that was showing was inside of a snow globe. The camera shows an old man’s mouth muttering his last word, “Rosebud.” “News on the March,” begins which a news cast declaring that Charles Foster Kane has just died and gives a brief description of his life and career. The news story had not actually been aired yet as the camera shows a news room full of reporters. The producer does not like the story because it does not show Mr. Kane’s true life and how he acted. He believes that his last word, “Rosebud,” will represent Kane’s life better than what the film showed. He sends a reporter, Jerry Thompson, to uncover the meaning of Kane’s final utterance. Thompson first interviews Kane’s ex-wife, Susan Alexander Kane, but he is unable to get her to talk to him. The waiter tells him that she has been unwilling to talk to anyone since Kan......
