Go Ask Alice is the diary of what seems to be a teenage girl in the 1960s. Like most teenagers at that age she is on a journey to find herself and understand her purpose. The character portrayed in this book is much like every other teenager of the time and similar even to teenagers of my time. Alice is insecure like many others about her appearance, sex, her parents and her social standings. She wants more then anything to fit in and to be popular but she fails to succeed for so long. After her search for a friend fails and she is left socially outcast she turns to a friend that she provides for herself, her diary. The pages are her escape and the pen is her route, her diary is the only one she can be open with, the only thing that is there for her no matter what. Although her diary provided her with an escape it was not enough, she still had to return to reality where every day she faced the facts, that she was alone (or at least that is how she felt). With this feeling of loneliness she began to withdraw and turn to a new world, a world filled with colors and content, a world ......
