The proper blood collection techniques are very similar with living subjects, dead subjects, wet specimens, and dried specimens, however with little differences. The basic way to explain the techniques is to examine the situation you're in. Asking questions and analyzing the situation in a vital key to collecting blood. With dead and/or living subjects, having permission from the hospital or from the subject is the first step. Then, with wet and/or dried specimens, analyzing the area around the blood stain is the first step. First, the taking of blood from dead subjects is done at the hospital at the time of autopsy, To make sure of the preservation of the blood, the best time to make the collection of blood is the ones taken before transfusions, intravenous fluids, or drug administration. Just like living subjects, the blood is released to law and medical personnel. Also, just like living subjects, the specimens should always be labeled.
