Although there are many different forms of abuse, the three forms listed above are more prevalent in American society. Physical, psychological, and verbal abuse all have equally devastating effects on its victims. The key elements of domestic abuse are: intimidation, humiliating the other person, and physical injury Physical abuse is defined as �abuse involving contact intended to cause pain, injury, or other physical suffering or harm�(en.wikipedia.org). Some basic examples of physical abuse are striking, pushing, pulling, or strangling. It can range anywhere from restraint to murder. Men who drink and have predisposition to hitting their spouse or female partner are more likely to do so when intoxicated.
