While growing up in life and there is something you know is missing, you do the best to live without it or you find something to replace it. The two stories I choose relate to the theme of parent and child relationship because the child and the parents of each story are in conflict with each other. They are in conflict because the child or the parents are missing something in there life. They are either lonely and need someone to fill the emptiness or someone in there life is missing with hopes of someday returning. The first story is about a boy who is lonely because his parents are always working and don�t have time for him. The young boy is the narrator of the story Dog who wants a dog to accompany him in life while his parents are busy working. In the beginning of the story, the boy mentions that his parents are �academic nomads� and were the type of parents that shouldn�t have kids. The young boy, begs his parents to buy a dog but they live in a house that the University paid for and they don�t allow pets in the house.
