When we look at our population as a whole, we see many different races. One of the main things that the Unites States has always prided itself on is being racially diverse, offering opportunities to each and every citizen, no matter what race they might be. At the same time there is so much stereotyping going on throughout these different groups of people little is accomplished. The media, which is the source of information for every citizen of this country, stereotypes these walks of life, in turn encouraging the entire population to think this way. The media is the main source of racial prejudice and ignorance in this country. It deters people from thinking for themselves and encourages this blind assumption we have about other people living in this country. The latest art exhibit to pass through the Weeks Gallery displayed a series of photos comparing a Native American to an Indian American, because the artist was sick of people always associating the word Indian to mean Native American.
