Children Being Left Behind Starting in 2001, President Bush signed into law the No Child left Behind Act, which caused controversy in schools all across the country. The act was implemented so that students, ranging from kindergarteners to seniors in high school, would increase their test scores as a way to receive additional money for their individual schools. Writers, Herman and Dietel explain in their article entitled �A Primer on Accountability,� that the No Child Left Behind Act adds some new twists, including major consequences for failing to increase test scores (26). Bush�s plan is a falilure. There are many other circumstances that the government is failing to consider. In passing this act, students in schools across the country are not going to suddenly get better test scores. Plus, there are many people besides students that are being affected by this act.
