Hamlet: Sane or Insane? It has a long debate whether Hamlet was sane or insane. Hamlet is the main character or Shakespeare�s play �Hamlet�, who is young (thirty years old) and is faced with responsibility of attaining revenge for his father�s murder. In my opinion, Hamlet was completely sane and was just acting mad to find the murderer of his father�s death. Hamlet�s insanity was nothing but acting and this started when he saw the ghost of his father old king Hamlet, Who told him that his father was actually poisoned into ear by present king. Therefore, Hamlet was depressed. Also his mother�s quick marriage to his uncle Claudius, one month after his father�s death made him very upset. Hamlet is still mourning but he does not understand why his mother is not mourning with him and very upset by his mother�s unfaithfulness to his father. Hamlet scorns his mother saying �frailty, thy mane is woman�. Seeing the unfairness he promised to himself to take revenge of his father�s death.
