Klee's influential position among the great painters of the century was unique. He neither founded a new style nor belonged to a modern movement; his achievements were not so much concerned with the manner of painting, but with its content.
Born in 1879, Klee was a Swiss painter, watercolorist, etcher, and a writer who created works known for their fantastic dream images, wit, and imagination. Klee kept on extensive diary were he documented his thoughts concerning his works and his day to day life. He grew up in a musical family and was a violinist. After much hesitation he chose to study art, not music, and he attended the Munich Academy in 1900.
In 1903, Klee started a series of Inventions, known as Opus I. This series of paintings was his first significant artistic creations. The collection included eleven etching that were dominantly busts and single figures. These etc......
