Women in the News As a communications major and a woman, my dream is to be a television news anchor. The concept of women in the news, contains a proud meaning derived from the history and battle for women in the news. Today we look at many successful women in the news, but it wasn�t always so common. Women put their first foot in the door for the news around 1972. Over 400 news stations around the USA suffered from a sever decline in their ratings ( Allen 135). Major cities such as Kansas, Washington, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Boston, and many others were astonished at the drop in viewers. What viewers wanted to see were women. This problem however wouldn�t be in existence for long because hundreds of women were about to join the male dominated world of the news. Such a drastic change resulted from the 1970 Equal Opportunity Employment regulations when they became critical due to FCC license renewal. To fulfill this requirement, news companies hired women as news consultants, not knowing that it would lead to hundreds of women being seen on TV. Even though......
