Divine Wind- Essay Friendship being a fragile notion is well illustrated throughout the novel in Hart and Mitsy�s relationship. In Garry Disher�s the Divine Wind, there are many examples of friendship being a temperamental concept, with Hart and Mitsy�s relationship being a prime example. Hart and Mitsy�s relationship varied largely from the beginning in which they were strictly friends in a gang, in contrast to the end when they were in love, a love which ultimately was triumphant after encountering some difficulties. It was this final reconciliation which was a reflection of Hart and Mitsy�s true love for each other. Hart and Mitsy�s relationship was constantly challenged as a result of poor communication. This lack of communication led to many problems which had to be overcome in Hart and Mitsy�s relationship. The first event which foreshadowed future problems was when Hart and Mitsy found Derby drunk in the cinema at Sheba Lane, and brought him home to the icy welcome of Ida Penrose. Hart �jerked [his] head� indicating to Mitsy that he�d handle the situation and catch up ......
