Basketball, one of the greatest sports ever discovered. Dr. James A. Naismith is given the recognition of discovering the sport. Basketball actually originated out of the peach-basket game. In 1891, the first indoor basketball game was held. The uniforms were similar but not as flashy and high-tech as now days. Early basketball was similar buy very different in a few ways. The peach basket game didn�t last very long. A rim and a net then replaced the peach basket games, so the ball would fall through. Then they had a problem whenever the ball missed the goal it would fall into the crowd. So they decided to put a backboard behind the goal. Now when the ball didn�t go in the goal it bounced off the backboard and fell back onto the playing court. In men�s basketball they started out playing seven men. Later on men were used, then eight, and finally five. In women�s basketball they had six players on each team. Two players on each team are offensive players, two are defensive, and two are roving players. Now days both men and women play with 5 players and use the w......
