Written by award winner Mark Haddon, ‘The curious incident of the dog in the night-time’ is a unique story narrated by Christopher Boone who is a 15-year- old boy with Asperger’s syndrome who lives in Swindon, England. When the neighbor's (Mrs. Shears) dog Wellington is killed with a pitchfork, he thinks of it as a puzzle and math problem in hopes of understanding something that makes no sense to him. This begins a journey for Christopher that takes him places he never imagined, both physically and mentally. Discovering that his mother is not really dead and that his father in fact had killed Wellington encourages Christopher to follow the footsteps of his favorite character Sherlock Holms. But despite the journey, Christopher s tidy and happy ending only shows blindness to the messy emotional lives of the people around him.
