Odysseus Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Heroism is when a hero or heroine has achieved extraordinary exploits or shown exceptional or heroic courage when facing danger. In The Odyssey, Odysseus symbolized the quality of heroism throughout the journey. He faced many dangers during his journey, where he demonstrated this heroism. The first danger was when he has met the Cyclops. When Odysseus and his crew came to the land of the Cyclopes they spent two comfortable nights there. On the second day, he and his men met a Cyclops in his cave because of curiosity of Odysseus; he wanted to see what kind of creatures these Cyclops are. Odysseus decided to take the Cyclops’ food and stay instead of leaving the land. It wasn’t a right decision because then Cyclops ate two of his men, but besides that he found the way how to escape from the Cyclops. First of all Odysseus made a spear with which he will poke out the Cyclops’ eye, then, Odysseus made the Cyclops drink a wine that Euanthes’ son, Maron, had given him.
