1.0 Introduction There are approximately 663, 978 hotels in the world today (Global Hotel Index, 2005). This industry is large enough to reach and influence guests to help sustain the environment. However, the downfall is that they don�t. There will always be exceptions to the rules, where the top management genuinely cares about sustaining the environment. For others the motive could be to appeal to guests or just to keep up with their competitors. In order to compete, differentiation is the key in the hospitality industry, which in turn means money. Money talks, and if what people invest in does not bring in as much revenue then one must trash it. Unfortunately, it is not only the hospitality industry that must learn how to sustain the environment, but as well as their guests. The mindset of travelers when they are away from home is ridiculous. They take advantage of the fact that they are on vacation and abuse the amount of water and energy they use because of their excuse that they have paid for the room. However, when they are at home they are not willing to excessively use......
