Rosa Parks was born as Rosa Louise McCauley.Rosa was born on February 4, 1913 she was born to James and Leona McCauley. She died on October 4, 2005 at the age of 92 years old. In refusing to surrender her seat to a white man, Rosa Parks inspired a courageous freedom movement that lives on, even today.
Rosa Parks changed the segregation laws in 1955 by standing up for her rights. African Americans were required to pay their fares to the driver in the front off the bus then get off and walk to the rear entrance and board the bus from there. White riders ran out of their seats in the rows toward the front. The driver would require black passengers to vacate additional rows to accommodate them.
Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to the white man. The bus driver told her that he wolud have her arrested, she replied " You may not do that".The bus driver stopped the bus and called the police and Ms. Parks was arredsted on December 1st.
