Robert Gray is a very famous Australian Poet; he was born in 1945 on the 23rd of February in Port Macquarie, northern NSW, Australia. Robert Gray trained to be a writer in university; he worked as an editor, promotion copywriter, reviewer and buyer for bookshops in northern NSW. At 17 he left school and went to Queensland with money which a relative gave towards his education. It wasn�t until 15 that he started poetry and started to like it; the first poets that inspired Gray was Hugh McRae which was his teacher, D.H Lawrence and T.S Eliot which are famous Poets. The first time he begun his work was when his English teacher got him the job, he worked for a year, Robert soon came to live in Sydney for good , at the age of 19 he worked for a readers digest. Gray describes his way of life as non religious and he is a naturalist. Some of the poems that Gray wrote were �North Coast Town�, �Diptych�, �Journey: The North Coast�, �The Meatworks�, and �Flames and Dangling Wire�, most of his poems expressed how he felt about life and what he had experienced throughout it and his beliefs.
