Air Pollution This essay identifies and explains the problem of pollution on humanity today. It also shows some causes and effects and some possible solutions to the growing problem. Air pollution is the release of environmental contaminants, generally resulting from human activity. Common air pollutants are Carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, CFCs, and nitrogen oxides produced by industry and motor vehicles. The U.S., Russia, China and Japan are the world leaders in air pollution emissions. Ever since the discovery of fire, harmful substances have been vented into the air. One of the first air-pollution regulations dates back to the fourteenth century, when King Edward I banned the burning of sea coal in lime kilns. The problem has been getting worse ever since then and has escalated into a major worry. It is causing poisoning, smog, acid rain, holes in the ozone layers, and the major problem, the green house effect. The green house effect is from the build up of carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere. This acts like a blanket keeping the heat in causing global warming. Air......
