The main characters are essential in a play. There are many characters in the play Romeo and Juliet that are important and there are some that are less important. The minor characters are just as important as the main characters in this play for without the minor characters the play would not be able to move along and continue the play. I think three of the minor characters who where very important in this play were Rosaline, the Apothecary and Friar Lawrence.
At the beginning of this play Romeo is in love with a girl called Rosaline. Romeo does not know Rosaline well but the first time he saw her he fell in love at first sight. In the play Romeo even uses Rosaline as an example when he is describing beauty.
“The ape is dead, and I must conjure him.—
I conjure thee by Rosaline’s bright eyes,
By her high forehead, and her scarlet lip,
By her fine foot, straight leg, and quivering thigh,
And the demesnes that there adjacent lie,
That in thy likeness thou appear to us”.
