There has to be something more; a definite underlying cause for my son�s painful wounds. The doctor finally arrived with the long awaited test results; �Your son has what we call methicillin- resistant Staphylococcus aureus�. A million questions scrambled my brain. What is it? Is it MY fault? How do I fix it? Can I get it? After arriving home I scrambled for my Medical Dictionary: �Staphylococcus aureus-organisms that are resistant to the antibacterial action of methicillin, a penicillinase-resistant penicillin antibiotic. These pathogens are resistant to all penicillin�s and cephalosporin�s� (Davis, 1289). I was petrified, yet the more I learned about this bacteria, how common it actually is and knowing there is treatment set my mind at ease.
