Cognitive psychology is the psychological science that focuses on cognition, the mental processes that influence behavior, including reasoning, thinking, decision making, and motivation. Cognitive psychology deals with a large range of research. It examines questions about how our memory works, perception, attention, reasoning, knowledge representation, problem solving and creativity. The term cognitive psychology came into use from a man named Ulric Neisser around 1967. He actually wrote a book called, �Cognitive Psychology� which was about a broad description about what he thought it was. Before the use of cognitive psychology everyone was more focused on Behaviorism. Behaviorism is the study of psychology that states behavior can be researched scientifically without addressing inner mental states. This means it is ruling out any independency for our mind. It states that all of our behavior is determined by genetics or by the environment. This would be through either association or reinforcement.
