High school students should be encouraged to work at least 15 hours a week during the school year. High school students work for many reasons such as, saving for a car, to buy luxury items and perhaps saving for college. There are advantages and disadvantages of students working during the school year; however, it should be left up to the students and the parents if working is beneficial for the student. Students could benefit working part � time at a peculiar job during the school year. For example, a part- time job may lead to a career after the student graduates from school. A student may be interested in restaurant management or cooking; likewise, a course in the area of interest may aid help in that part- time job. This shows that a job may spark a student�s interest in a certain career and he may purse courses that are related. In addition, a job teaches students responsibility and also teaches students about life.
