The Road Not Taken
“The Road Not Taken” is a poem by Robert Frost; this poem is filled with imagery,
Symbolism, metaphor, and just a bit of personification. It is a poem about choices in Life.
I have been a traveler all of my life and so this has a deeper meaning to me.
My Father traveled a lot with us and He claimed that we have gypsy in our blood
Because, we love to travel. So this poem has special meaning to me.
During my childhood we traveled the United States. When I turned eighteen then my life
ran along the same lines as the poem, as the author speaks of two roads diverged in a
yellow wood, in this the author uses a metaphor. My life at eighteen came to a diversion in
the woods of my life. Go left and join the work force in the carpet mills of Georgia. Or go
right and join the military. The author stated that “And I am sorry could not travel both” I
too was sorry because I was both scared and happy about the decision I was going to make.
