MARRIAGE IN HINDUISM Every culture of the world recognizes some form of the institution of marriage. In most of the cultures and religions neither man nor woman is considered complete after maturity without a spouse. Many religion consider marriage as a scared act that originates from god or as the union of souls or spirit with the sacred realm. In Christianity the marriage is identified with the sacred union of Adam and Eva, and this marriage ceremony joins man and woman into one spirit in union with Christ and god. Jewish people also trace the origin of marriage to Adam and Eve. They view their union as a part of the fabric creation. In my culture, marriage is not simply an exchange of vows and rings. It includes a number religious rites before, during, and after the marriage, which are performed in the presence of family deities.
