Epicureanism is a very strict and quiet philosophy that was started by the Greek thinker, Epicurus. Epicureanism holds strong emphasis on friendship, pleasure, and happiness that is free from fear. One who lived an Epicurean life would hope to reach ataraxia, a carefree state that was so important in the Hellenistic Age. Epicureanism is the philosophy that best relates to my life. Epicurus found that the best way to keep one�s wants simple, one must focus strongly on friendship. I focus very strongly on friendship and friendship plays a very important part in my life. Even in high school when everyone seemed to be focused on having a boyfriend, I was always more interested in maintaining my relationships with my friends. I would rather spend time with my friends than with a boyfriend or guys in general. I am constantly meeting new people and hanging around with new groups of friends because friendship is so important to me.
