Global warming is a serious threat to humans that has long been identified and is a problem that requires attention not only at a national and international level but primarily at an individual and public level. Global warming is a phenomenon analogous to the green house effect � heat in the form of solar radiation enters the green house through glass windows and is absorbed by objects with in the green house. However, the heat emitted by these objects cannot escape and is retained with in the green house resulting in an increase in internal temperature with subsequent inputs of solar radiation. In a similar manner, the sun heats up the surface of the earth and in response the earth emits heat (called terrestrial radiation), some of which is absorbed by atmospheric gases like carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and certain oxides of nitrogen. For this reason, the gases involved are often called �green house gases�. Thus, some of the heat from the earth is retained in the atmosphere, raising the temperature.
