Children�s Crusade Usually looked over by readers and historians, the Children�s Crusade normally isn�t mentioned in the Chronicles of the Crusades. Often misunderstood, the Children�s Crusade is the name given to a series of events that involved thousands of wandering children who believed they were acting in the name of God. The extremely similar cases of crusades were both lead by two young boys around the same age in the year 1212. The first leader known about, Stephen, was a twelve year-old shepherd boy with a vision. The second, Nicholas, was a rich, ten year-old boy from Germany. It is believed that Nicholas heard about Stephens vision, and then decided to take action, but in his own way. They both had one goal in mind, to win Jerusalem, and convert Palestine to Christianity. The idea came about after the crusaders were unsuccessful in defending and managing the Holy Land. Stephen spoke with such passion and encouragement that many believed that he actually was a prophet. He believed that good children could succeed where the elders had failed.
