Historically, the role of fashion originated from being the preserve of the rich, and then gradually become economically important after World War II. Due to the post-war economic boom, the rise of incomes, the reduction of family sizes, the professionalized adverting, and the development of marketing, clothing had turned into more popular among middle-class, affluent working-class and, notably, the youth market. Accordingly, the post-Fordism, offering highly standardized products that are responsive and receptive to the needs of the consumers, emerged by the 1980s. The apparent transition toward post-Fordism was an increasingly new technology such as computer aided design, which reflected a more flexible and consumer-oriented industry to serve customers¡¦ needs with maximum efficiency. However, although such development reflected a declining of consumers¡¦ interest in mass produced goods, the increasing power of large retailers had also become monopolistic in Britain, while the smaller manufacturers had struggle to compete.
